Gothenburg, 2025-10-01 – The world is in a race for the future of Artificial Intelligence. The US and China are investing astronomical amounts and are in the lead – but Europe’s strength lies elsewhere: our innovative capacity, our culture of collaboration, and our ability to build sustainable models for the future. New types of companies are now needed to unlock this potential. This is where Alpha Leap enters the stage.
Alpha Leap is an employee-owned AI consulting and innovation company bringing together some of Sweden’s most driven entrepreneurs, AI talents, researchers, as well as the company Spacebase3000. The initiative is further backed by the Svedulf Group, which previously contributed to the development of IT consultancy Acando.
The goal is clear: to build an innovation hub that enables and supports Swedish and European companies in unlocking the full potential of AI. By democratizing technology and combining consulting with supporting company builders through investments in innovation and startups, they aim to shape the future of AI more on Europe’s terms – open, sustainable, and accessible to all.
Carl Törnström, serial entrepreneur who previously founded Heap Carsharing among other ventures, describes both his driving force and the foundation for a meaningful life:
“Ten years ago, I had a life crisis. I had a good job with nice colleagues and solid values, but I felt neither challenged nor free. When I realized I needed an outlet for my creativity and drive, I took the leap and started my own company. Now we stand at the threshold of a new era where innovation and speed are more important than ever. As an entrepreneur I am an optimist – but as a father I also feel a responsibility. We must harness society’s innovative power and work together to build a positive future for our children.”
The need in industry is enormous. Johan Ekström, a top talent with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics, researcher and entrepreneur who has founded several startups, is one of the advisors and sees Alpha Leap as a necessary bridge between industry, research, and application:
“Many Swedish and European industrial companies are world leaders in their fields, but struggle to understand and realize the full potential of AI. Today many companies lack the competence required to identify their untapped potential and determine which AI technologies create the most value – whether it is traditional ML, Generative AI, AI agents, or the next wave of technology around the corner.
In my experience, it is often easier for companies to collaborate with external partners to create innovation with AI. The latest report from MIT, The GenAI Divide, shows that AI projects carried out together with external partners are twice as successful. This is where Alpha Leap plays a crucial role – we make the technology accessible, concrete, practical, and business-critical.”
But it is not only about technology. Jennifer Jensen, who helped build Annevo – a consultancy that grew rapidly with culture as its success factor, where Jennifer led the culture work – believes that Alpha Leap’s culture and work environment are crucial for success:
“At Alpha Leap we are building something unique: an employee-owned company with an open, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment where people can grow – both professionally and personally. This is where creativity is unleashed and innovation is born. If Europe is to compete with the largest players, we need exactly this type of workplace, where people feel at home and gain energy from creating together.”
The investors share this conviction. Alexander Svedulf, former technical director at Volvo’s flagship plant and now CEO of the Svedulf Group, which has invested SEK 10 million, explains why:
“Every day I meet decision-makers who are uncertain about what AI is and how it can be applied in their own business. We have followed the entrepreneurs behind Alpha Leap and believe in their potential to create significant value on this journey. Technological development is nothing new – it is rather about the interaction between people and technology.”
Alpha Leap is therefore more than a company – it is a movement that brings together entrepreneurial creativity, scientific sharpness, human culture, and long-term capital. With this combination, they aim to help others and work to unleash the innovative power that can give Europe its own role in global AI development. The future of AI is not only shaped in Silicon Valley, the US, or China – it is also shaped here. And Alpha Leap is looking for more co-creators to join the journey.
